The ESRC is committed to promoting stakeholder engagement and practical research application with our research investments, researchers and students.
In order to encourage this activity the Knowledge Transfer Team is providing a programme of Knowledge Transfer Learning and Development workshops throughout the year. These interactive training and development workshops aim to equip researchers of different academic experience with the necessary tools to effectively engage and apply their research to three key non-academic audiences - the Business, Public and Third sectors.
Separate workshops will be available for PhD students, early-mid career researchers and experienced academics throughout the year focusing on engaging with each of the key stakeholder groups identified above.
The workshops are facilitated by an external consultant Carol Sherriff who is also an associate lecturer in Knowledge Management at the Open University. The workshops are designed to be extremely interactive and will include case studies and attendance from external stakeholders from the relevant policy domain.
The Purpose of the Workshops are:
- To increase understanding of how research can be applied to inform policy and practice
- To explore a range of frameworks that can be used to support knowledge exchange activities
- To identify skills, tools and techniques for maximising the impact of research
- To network and share experiences with colleagues from other research institutions and public sector organisations
- To develop a framework for participants to create a knowledge transfer strategy
