Collaborative Awards in Science and Engineering (CASE)

"CASE gave me a good insight into working in a private industry and academic environment and gave me the opportunity to have a career in research. Without this award I would not have been able to complete a PhD."

For post-graduate social scientists there is an opportunity to apply their research to a real life situation.

CASE studentships provide PhD students with the chance to gain experience of work outside the academic environment.  The student receives financial support from both ESRC and a collaborating organisation.  This organisation can be from industry, government or other public sector, including voluntary organisations.

The student's research focuses on a topic of mutual interest to themselves, the academic institution and the collaborating organisation.
