Student Internship Scheme 2010
The Economic & Social Science Research Council (ESRC) places great emphasis on the importance of Knowledge Transfer and making an impact on policy and practice.
The ESRC Student Internship Scheme provides current ESRC funded PhD students with the opportunity to spend 3 months in a non-academic organisation within the Public, Third (voluntary) or Private sector where they can work as part of a team involved with policy/practice development.
Internships provide both the student and host organisations with a clear set of benefits and contributes to the skills and professional development of PhD students.
Participating host organisations for the 2010/11 Internships include:
- Advisory, Conciliation & Arbitration Service (ACAS)
- Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
- Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations (ACEVO)
- Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC)
- British Library
- Community Service Volunteers (CSV)
- Enteric - The Bowel Function Healthcare Technology Co-Operative
- House of Commons Scrutiny Unit
- Mid Argyll Community Enterprise Ltd (MACEL)
- Office for National Statistics
- Strategy Unit
- The Scottish Government
- UK Border Agency
- Welsh Assembly Government
Internship award holders receive a 3 month extension to their ESRC award (conditions apply), and will be able to claim for reasonable travel and accommodations cost (conditions apply).
Prospective ESRC Students:
ESRC funded students looking to undertake an internship award during 2011 are required to complete and return an application for each of the Host Organisation/s they wish to apply to by the closing date of the 15th October 2010.
