Research Centres and Groups
Research Centres are major investments in one or more of the ESRC's key research challenges. They are funded for an initial period of ten years, subject to a satisfactory mid-term review. Selection is based on a competition steered towards one or more of the themes, with peer and merit review processes involved. Research Groups are selected via the same competition as Centres but for an initial period of five years. The Strategic Research Board recommends awards for new centres and groups across the social sciences.
