Families and Social Capital Research Group
ESRC funding of this centre ended in March 2007 Families are changing in Britain, and so is the society in which they live. This research group focused on the inter-relationship between the dynamics of family change and processes of social capital. Social capital concerns collective and socially negotiated ties, norms, values, interactions and relationships. The work was fundamentally concerned with taking a critical approach to the question of whether changing families mean the death of old or the generation of new forms of social resources based on relational connections and group membership.
