Deafness, Cognition and Language Research Centre (DCAL)

DCALDeafness offers an exciting model for approaching questions on language origins, development and processes. DCAL will focus on modalities of communication (vocal, visuo-gestural) and the experiences of deaf people, via five themes:

  • language processing
  • face to face communication
  • language development
  • atypical sign language
  • the deaf individual and the community

DCAL will also develop standard tests for sign language processing.
