The current questions which survey companies and the government rely upon to measure peoples fear of crime are likely to exaggerate the extent of their fears. The proposed research, drawing upon current thinking on the best ways to design survey questions, pilots a new way of asking questions about the fear of crime. This is achieved via a survey of residents if England, Wales and Scotland
