The development of children's understanding of intensive quantities
The aim of this paper is to analyse the initial stages of children's understanding of intensive quantities. In order to accomplish this, we first consider briefly what distinguishes intensive and extensive quantities and previous research on children's understanding of intensive quantities. We then report two experiments that analyse children's performance on non-quantitative tasks involving intensive quantities.
