TLRP: Improving the Effectiveness of Pupil Groups in Classrooms (SPRinG) - poster
This poster explains the rationale, aims and approaches of the Improving the Effectiveness of Pupil Groups in Classrooms (SPRinG) project. Group work in classrooms has enormous potential in terms of increasing children’s motivation and learning. The project is the first large scale study designed to develop, implement and evaluate a comprehensive approach to group work in everyday classroom settings through KS1 to KS3 by actively involving teachers and pupils. The project will provide a high standard of evidence on which to base future practice by comparing, under controlled conditions, the relative effectiveness of group-work in terms of pupil attainment, motivation and attitudes, and classroom processes. From this SPRinG will develop a ‘social pedagogy’ of groups for the use of group-work in the curriculum by examining its generalisability across different Key Stages, learning contexts and for specific purposes.
