TLRP: ICT neglected in schools
This news report looks at the use of computers in the classroom. Research indicates that not all teachers are employing ICT in their lessons to its full potential owing to lack of confidence and the current educational paradigm that emphasises the importance of results. The latter is stymieing innovation within ICT as engaging with new technology may appear to be a risky and time consuming strategy to uninitiated teachers. To overcome these difficulties 100 City Learning Centres have opened to motivate both students and staff. Teachers are offered technical support and team teaching to help embed ICT practices into their teaching.
