Software/multimedia package details

The project has developed a set of tools which allow users to segment, label and annotate video content (from a local digital library or from file sharing sites like Youtube) with semantically rich and meaningful markup. This then allows a video to be connected at a fine-grained level with other resources: for example, as a video plays, related resources can be displayed, key terminology can be explained, or user annotations added, displayed and reviewed. This has been of particular interest in educational settings where some kind of reflection or performance review is an important pedagogical process. This aspect of the projects work has been a major element in follow-on funding by Liverpool John Moores University, JISC and the AHRC and NESTA (see further funding outcomes listed).
