Some macro-demographic trends of significance for health and development
In this presentation given for the IDS seminar 'Global Demographic Shifts: Urbanisation and the 21st Century Burden of Disease', Professor Sue Parnell examines major shifts in global demographics -- especially regarding urbanisation -- and their implications for national health systems. In particular, she argues the the development studies community must recognise that the poorest are living in cities, and are no longer farmers living in the countryside.
