It is often said the 21st century will be the Asian century. This seminar begins by looking at the historical record of rising powers and the challenges they present to existing global norms. It then examines Chinese and Indian attitudes to international society more specifically before concluding with a roundtable on British foreign policy, exploring how the UK can promote its values in a multipolar world.
