The good of the game: football, society, and globalisation

A glamorous evening event at a Sheffield Football stadium with a wide-ranging mandate to explore not only the benefits of football to society, but also the benefits of engaging with society to the game. It will comprise of an all-star panel consisting of two academics (Professor Rory Miller and Professor Ian Bache), a member of football's governing hierarchy (Sir David Richards - Chairman of the Premier League), a former player (Gordon Banks), Chief Executive of Sheffield and Hallamshire FA (James Hope-Gill) a representative from a club (Chairman of one of the Sheffield Clubs) and a politician (RT Hon Richard Caborn MP) to be chaired by ITV's football coverage anchor Matt Smith.
