Time Use Survey

The survey sampled 9000 addresses across the UK over a 12 month period, collecting diaries for two days of the week from all individuals over 10 years of age within each of the sample households.

The survey collected information on the age, sex and relationship between members, housing details, consumer durables, vehicles, help and services from outside the household and income.

At the individual level, the survey collected information on activity status and employment details (or job search activities), income, education and training, voluntary work and provision of help and services outside the household, household activities, participation in leisure and sport, health and disabilities, and child care and other caring responsibilities.
